Volume replacement is a cosmetic gel composed of hyaluronic acid (a naturally occurring complex sugar) and collagens which are naturally produced in the body that reduces as we age. The fillers are injected to plump up areas under the skin which have become less supported and give you a fresh, more youthful appearance.

What should I expect for my Volume Replacement procedure?
Your first experience with volume replacement can be a little scary but we can assure you that there’s nothing to fear.
To help make things a little less overwhelming, here is a rundown on what you can expect for your first appointment:
Before the appointment:
- Call or email to book your appointment with Port Cosmetic Clinic.
- For 1 week prior to your appointment, avoid Aspirin and Vitamin E.
- For 24 hours prior to your appointment, avoid exercise and alcohol as this can increase the risk of bruising.
During the appointment:
- Arrive at the studio and be greeted by Joyce’s smiling face.
- The first 20-30 minutes involves talking with Joyce about what you are hoping to achieve and to ensure that you know what is involved in your procedure.
- You will have a video call with a doctor who will take a brief medical history and clear you to go ahead with the procedure.
- Once you are comfortable to continue with your volume replacement, you will sign a consent form.
- Joyce will then administer the fillers through a tiny needle and syringe into the area you want to treat. This is quite painless and only takes a few minutes and then you are free to leave. The whole appointment generally takes around 1 hour depending on how many areas you want done.
After the appointment:
- It’s a good idea to remain upright for 4 hours after the treatment to ensure the product settles into place nicely.
- DO NOT exercise at all for 24 hours after your procedure
- Avoid the following after receiving your fillers:
- Active skincare products such as Retinol for 5 days
- Alcohol and painkillers such as ibuprofen
- Skin treatments like microdermabrasion, skin needling or dermal rolling for 2 weeks
- Excessive heat or cold such as spas, saunas, steam rooms, ice baths, skiing etc
- Massaging or applying pressure to treated areas
- International travel for 2 weeks
